πŸ’› Why You'll Love This Recipe

  1. You can make them ahead. These Golden Graham Smores Bars can be made in advance and set aside as well as eaten cold. Perfect for making life a little simpler.
  2. They're flavorful. All of the best tasting parts of a smoker in a convenient square. Of course, these treats never last long around here.
  3. Minimal ingredients. These smore bars are similar to making rice krispie treats. They don't require too much to make them, and the steps are very simple too.

πŸ›’ Ingredients

labeled ingredients needed to make golden graham smore bars.

Golden Graham cereal- The base of this recipe is some golden graham cereal. This will give us a honey graham cracker taste that pairs well with the chocolate and marshmallows (like smores!)

Mini marshmallows- Use a bag of mini marshmallows to bind the cereal together and give us a gooey sweet bar treat.

Chocolate chips- You can use semi sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips.

See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.

πŸ’° Budget-Friendly Tips

Shop sales: Watch for sales on Golden Graham cereal since it is the main cost in this recipe.

Store brands: Store brand marshmallows and chocolate chips work just as well as name brands.

Easy greasing: Butter the pan directly with the wrapper to avoid using extra tools or sprays.

πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³ Expert Tips

  1. Add marshmallows last. Stir in a few unmelted marshmallows before pressing the mixture into the pan for a softer texture and extra visual appeal.
  2. Don't over stir. Gently melt the marshmallows and stir only as needed to keep them from hardening as they cool.
  3. Help chocolate set. In warm conditions, the chocolate may stay soft. Refrigerate the bars briefly to help it firm up and prevent melting.

❄️ Storage and Make Ahead

Storage: Store Golden Graham Smores Bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

Make Ahead: These bars are perfect for making ahead since they need time to fully set before slicing.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Are Golden Graham smores dairy free?

Believe it or not, they can be! The cereal itself is dairy free (I checked my box) and you can use dairy free chocolate chips as well as plant based butter to make the dish 100% dairy free.

How long are these cereal bars good for?

These bars can last up to a week in the fridge before becoming stale. They should still be safe to eat at that point, but the texture is a little different. Some are okay with this and others are not so take note.

Can you customize these bars with additional add-ins or toppings?

Yes, you can add extras like chopped nuts, dried fruits, or even additional chocolate chips to enhance the flavor and texture of the S'mores Bars.

  • 1 cup chocolate chips - ($1.07)
  • 5 cups Golden Grahams cereal - ($1.95)
US Customary - Metric

Instructions

  • Prep the Pan: Rub a cold stick of butter along the inside of a baking dish, making sure to coat the corners and sides. Set aside.
  • Melt the Butter: Add the butter to a large pot over low heat and cook until fully melted.
  • Melt the Marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows and stir occasionally until melted. Remove the pot from the heat.
  • Add Chocolate: Stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth.
  • Add Cereal: Gently stir in the Golden Grahams cereal until evenly coated.

Notes

  • Marshmallow Handling: Avoid over stirring the marshmallows as they melt. Overworking them can cause the bars to become hard as they cool.
