🍯 Why This Recipe Works
- You can customize them. There are so many different ways that you can customize your own pizza bagel bites by simply switching the toppings for the ones you prefer. We like to stick with the classics, (pepperoni, cheese, and maybe black olives).
- Make as many as you want! You can make a full batch of bagel pizzas or just a few. Plenty for everyone without the unnecessary leftovers, or plan to have leftovers for snacks later.
- It can be a cheap meal option. Considering the overall cost, amount of servings, and cost per serving, this recipe is a really cheap pizza option, and it's quicker than delivery.
🥘 Ingredients
Ingredient Notes:
Mini bagels- You will need some mini bagels for this recipe, but regular-sized bagels will work just fine too. I like to use plain bagels, but my husband likes the onion flavor or egg-flavored ones. You can even use homemade bagels like these Bread Machine Bagels.
Pizza sauce- I always buy the cheapest pizza sauce available, but if I don't have any on hand, then I'll grab some spaghetti sauce. It works in a pinch.
Cheese- Use mozzarella cheese or shredded pizza blend for these pizzas. Cheese that you shred yourself will melt nicer, but pre-shredded saves time.
Pepperoni- For mini bagel pizzas, it makes sense to use mini pepperoni. Larger ones would fall off after biting, leaving the rest of the pizza plain, but mini pepperoni means you can get some in every bite.
If you have pepperoni leftover, make sure to use them up in our Pepperoni Pizza Pasta Bake and Pepperoni Pizza Sticks.

Step 4: Top with 2-3 tablespoons of shredded cheese.

Step 7: Let cool for about 5 minutes before serving because it will be hot.
🍴 Recipe Tips
- Easier Cleanup- To prevent the melted cheese from sticking to your baking sheet, consider laying down a sheet of parchment paper or aluminum foil before baking. This simple step makes cleanup effortless.
- Spreading the Sauce- Utilize the back of a spoon to evenly spread the sauce onto the bagels. Alternatively, you can use a butter knife or rubber spatula for this task if preferred.
- Pepperoni Size- While regular-sized pepperoni slices can be used for homemade mini pizza bagels, opting for mini pepperoni slices can make eating them less messy. With mini slices, one bite is less likely to pull off a significant portion of the toppings.
💭 Recipe FAQs
Your bagels will only take about 5-10 minutes to cook at 425 degrees F in the oven or about 10 minutes at 375 degrees F. The time used to cook the bagels is basically just to melt the cheese and warm the bagels so you can extend or reduce the time in the oven depending on how melty or cooked you like your bagels.
Yes, if you want to cook your pizza bagels in the microwave instead of the oven you can simply place them on a microwave-safe plate and heat for about 45 seconds to cook the cheese until melted. Be careful though as they will be hot.
After assembling the homemade pizza bagels as per the recipe card, simply place them on a baking sheet and freeze for about 2 hours until solid. Then transfer to an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months.
When ready to bake remove the amount desired from the container and bake as directed. You won't need to thaw the bagels but depending on how many you cook or how close they are on the pan you may need to extend the cooking time by a few minutes.
