    🍯 Why This Recipe Works

    1. Simple ingredients. You'll only need 3 ingredients to make this recipe and if you already have a box of chocolate cake mix, then no additional trips to the grocery store are needed (assuming you have the other 2 ingredients on hand). But you could also add some Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting on top.
    2. It's quick to prep. One of the best things about boxed brownie mix is how quickly they can be whisked together. This recipe is just as easy as making those brownies (but tastier). We love Recipes With Boxed Cake Mixes for this reason.
    3. You can change out the cake mix. These brownies can come in flavors you won't find in a packaged brownie mix. Imagine strawberry cake mix, lemon cake mix, chocolate or yellow cake mix all turned into differently flavored brownies! Yum!

    🥘 Ingredients

ingredients needed to make Devils Food Cake Brownies.

    Ingredient Notes:

Cake mix- To make these brownies, you'll need a box of Devil's Food cake mix, but you can use any chocolate (or non-chocolate) flavored cake mix instead.

If you still have cake mix to use, try our 4 Ingredient Oatmeal Cookies, Easy Chocolate Orange Cake, and Chocolate Crockpot Lava Cake.

Eggs- Using eggs will help with the texture of the brownies and give them a nice binder to keep them from falling apart too.

Vegetable Oil- You'll need some vegetable oil to moisten the batter. This will give us a nice and fudgy consistency in the brownies.

    🍴 Recipe Tips

    1. Easy Brownies with Cake Mix- Creating these brownies from devil's food cake mix is a breeze and adds a fun twist to traditional baking. Just mix the ingredients together and pour them into a pan – it's that simple.
    2. Mixing Tip: Be careful not to overmix the batter. Doing so can result in a crumbly texture rather than the soft, fudgy consistency we're aiming for. Mix only until there are no flour streaks remaining.
    3. Enhancing Flavor: For an extra burst of chocolate flavor, consider adding 1-2 cups of chocolate chips to the batter.

    💭 Recipe FAQs

Can I use any cake mix to make brownies?

Yes, any standard-sized box of cake mix (about 15.25 ounces in size) can be turned into a batch of brownies following this simple recipe using eggs and vegetable oil.

Can I make brownies with butter instead of oil?

Yes, you can use melted butter instead of oil if desired. This will give you a richer taste too. Coconut oil may also be used but it will alter the flavors to include coconut.

How long are cake mix brownies good for?

These devil's food cake brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Any longer than that and they may become stale or dry out, so eating them sooner is best for freshest results.
