This 5 ingredient fudge recipe is so much fun to make and watch come together. Using a bag of chocolate chips and as many Rolo candies, as you want, you can create a tasty caramel stuffed fudge that tastes great.

Inspired by the Rolo Turtle Candies where people assemble pretzels, Rolos, and pecans to make a sweet and salty chewy candy, this fudge recipe is the next step up.

With pecans, chocolate fudge, and Rolo caramels in every bite, it's soft, chewy, and totally hits the spot!

💛 Why You'll Love This Recipe

  1. It's easy to make. There are no candy thermometers, boiling liquids, or excessive stirring needed. This recipe is so simple and easy to throw together that it's perfect for beginner fudge makers.
  2. Minimal ingredients. We don't need much to make homemade fudge, and this recipe is proof of that. With just 5 ingredients we can get a rich, caramel, and nutty experience in every square.
  3. It's great for holidays. Fudge is a perfect treat to make and share around the holidays, and this recipe would be fabulous for your holiday parties and dessert tables!

🛒 Ingredients

ingredients needed for rolo turtle fudge.

Rolos. Use unwrapped Rolo candies. Buying a larger bag makes it easy, and kids can help unwrap them. If you have extras, try Rolo Stuffed Ritz Crackers.

Chocolate chips. Milk chocolate or semi sweet both work well as the fudge base.

Sweetened condensed milk. Creates a thick, sweet, creamy fudge. If you have another can on hand, try Creamy Lemonade.

Pecans. Chopped pecans add a light crunch to each bite.

See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.

💰 Budget-Friendly Tips

Watch for candy sales. Rolos are often discounted after holidays and work perfectly for this recipe.

Buy nuts in pieces. Chopped pecans are usually cheaper than whole and save prep time.

Cut into small squares. This fudge is rich, so smaller pieces go further and stretch the batch.

Make it for gifting. One batch yields multiple servings, making it a cost-effective homemade treat.

👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

  1. Prep ahead. Measure ingredients and line your pan with foil before starting. Fudge sets quickly, so being ready helps.
  2. Adjust to taste. You can add extra Rolos for more flavor, just keep in mind they may move around when the chocolate is poured.
  3. Serving options. Enjoy the Rolo Turtle Fudge at room temperature or chilled, depending on your preference.

❄️ Storage and Make Ahead

Storage: Store Rolo Turtle Fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-6 weeks.

Make Ahead: This fudge can be made several days or weeks in advance, making it ideal for holiday prep or gifting.

❓ Rolo Turtle Fudge FAQs

Should fudge be refrigerated?

This easy turtle fudge can be kept stored in the fridge if desired, but it's not necessary. Fudge can last several weeks at room temperature if kept stored in an airtight container. Cold air technically dries out the fudge faster.

How long will fudge last unrefrigerated?

If you keep your fudge properly stored in an airtight container, you can expect a shelf life of 4-6 weeks! That's plenty of time to enjoy a little chocolate fix daily.

What happens if you cook fudge too long?

Overcooked fudge will become grainy, crumbly, or hard. This is why it's important to stir the melting chocolate constantly and keep an eye on it. You want it to come together and be smooth, but you don't need to cook it beyond that point.
