Nothing says summer or childhood like a Slurpee, Icee, or other similar beverage from your local convenience store, right? They're about as summery as a tall glass of Old Fashioned Lemonade.
These Kool-Aid Icee drinks taste so much like the ones you craved all summer, but with the bonus of being made in your kitchen. And with any luck, your blender won't be down for maintenance.
Using your favorite Kool-Aid packet you can create a flavorful drink that your kids will rave about to their friends. Mine have been exploring new and exciting Kool-Aid flavors and trying to see which one is their favorite to serve up in this icy fashion.
Considering how we don't buy Kool-Aid packets very often, they really think they're being treated to something special, especially when I serve these slushies with a slice of No Bake Kool Aid Pie on the side.

🛒 Ingredients
Kool-aid- Use your favorite flavor packet for these homemade kool aid slushies. We like the blue raspberry.
Sugar- If you've ever tried kool aid without sugar then you know how badly we need to get some sweetness into this recipe. You can adjust the sweetness to your own tastes, though.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Choose store-brand packets. Generic drink mix packets cost less than name-brand options and work just as well for slushies.
Let ice do the work. Ice makes up most of the volume, which helps stretch a single Kool-Aid packet into multiple servings without sacrificing flavor.
Make it in batches. If your blender is small, blending in batches prevents overworking your appliance and avoids the need for specialty equipment.
🥄 Instructions for Kool Aid Slushies
Step 1: Add the sugar and water to the blender.
Step 2: Add in all of the ice.
Step 3: Sprinkle your Kool Aid packet over the top of the ice.
Step 4: Close the lid and then blend on high until the ice is small and fine (like snow).
Step 5: Pour into drinking glasses and serve with a straw.

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Adjusting Liquid Amount- If you want your Kool-Aid slushies to be thicker, try using less water at first. You can start by cutting the water in half and see how you like it. Just remember, as the ice melts, the drink will get thinner.
- Balancing Texture and Taste- You can add more ice or water to adjust the texture. But be careful not to add too much, or the flavor might get weaker. Stick to a total of 8 cups of liquid and ice together to keep the taste just right.

❓ Kool Aid Slushies FAQs
If you don't have a blender you can use a food processor to blend up ice in small batches until fine and then pour them into a bowl. Once you have several cups of ice in that bowl, you can stir in the other ingredients until well mixed and pour it into glasses for drinking. Enjoy.
Yes! One of the best things about slurpees is the carbonation, so go ahead and swap out some (if not all) of the requested water for Club Soda to give your drink a little fizzy goodness in every sip.
Absolutely! Feel free to swap out the granulated sugar for a sugar free sweetener of choice. This will make the drink way more friendly for those trying to limit their daily sugar intake.

📖 Recipe
Kool Aid Slushies
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar - ($0.18)
- 2 cups water - ($0.00)
- 4 cups ice cubes - ($0.00)
- 1 Kool-Aid drink mix, any flavor - ($0.30)
Instructions
- Add liquid and sugar. Add the water and granulated sugar to a blender.
- Add ice and flavoring. Add the ice cubes, then sprinkle the Kool-Aid packet evenly over the top.
- Blend. Secure the lid and blend on high until the ice is finely crushed and snow-like in texture.
- Serve. Pour into glasses and serve immediately with a straw.
Notes
- Thickness control. Use less water for a thicker slushie. The ice will naturally thin the drink as it blends.
- Flavor strength. Avoid adding too much extra water or ice, as it can dilute the flavor.
- No blender option. Crush ice in batches using a food processor, then stir together with the remaining ingredients in a bowl before serving.
- Flavor swaps. Any Kool-Aid flavor works, and you can mix packets for custom blends.
