🛒 Ingredients

Chicken wings- Use raw, unbreaded chicken wings. I usually buy a large bag of frozen wings and thaw what I need. If you have extras, try my Honey Gold Wings and Soy Garlic Chicken Wings too!
Lime Juice- A key ingredient, it brightens the sauce and makes the flavor more vibrant.
Ketchup- Adds color, sweetness, and a little tang that balances the sauce perfectly.
Garlic- Use minced garlic, either freshly chopped or the convenient jarred kind.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Buy Wings in Bulk. Large bags of frozen wings are far cheaper per pound than buying fresh. Thaw only what you need and freeze the rest for another batch.
Stretch the Meal. Serve Honey Buffalo Wings with low-cost sides like homemade fries, coleslaw, rice, or roasted frozen veggies to make the meal more filling without raising the budget.
Choose Store-Brand Honey & Mustard. Store-brand honey, mustard, and seasonings taste just as good in sauces and cut the cost significantly.
🥄 Instructions for Honey Buffalo Wings
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F. Line the baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 2: Place your chicken wings onto the pan in an even layer.

Step 3: Sprinkle with salt and pepper on top. Bake for 45min in the oven at 400F.
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce.

Step 4: Add the sauce ingredients to a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, and bring to a boil.

Step 5: Reduce to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened. Adjust flavor as desired by adding in more hot sauce for more spice or more honey for a sweeter taste.

Step 6: After the chicken wings have finished cooking, turn on the high broil.
Step 7: Broil on High for 3 minutes or until your desired level of crispiness. Keep a close eye so that they do not burn.

Step 8: Flip over and broil the other side as well.

Step 9: Remove the chicken wings from the pan and place them into a large mixing bowl.

Step 10: Add your honey buffalo sauce to the chicken wings.

Step 11: Toss together using tongs (so you don't burn your hands) until well coated.
Serve warm with Blue cheese or ranch dip. Enjoy!

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Use Foil for Crispy Skin. Line the baking sheet with foil instead of parchment for crispier wings and easier cleanup.
- Toss with Tongs. When mixing the hot wings with the sauce, always use tongs to avoid burns.
- Keep the Sauce Warm. If the sauce is ready before the wings, let it simmer on low heat until needed.
- Check for Doneness. Wings are fully cooked when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the meat reads 165°F.
❄️ Storage and Reheating
Storage. Store leftover Honey Buffalo Wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, though they taste best within 2 days. Reheat before serving.
Microwave Reheating. Place wings on a microwave-safe plate between slightly damp paper towels and heat for about 2 minutes to prevent drying out.
Oven Reheating. Preheat to 350°F, place wings on a foil-lined baking sheet, and bake for 10-20 minutes until hot and crispy.
Air Fryer Reheating. Arrange wings in a single layer and air fry at 360°F for 5 minutes, flipping halfway for even heating.

❓ Honey Buffalo Wings FAQs
Chicken wings are considered white meat. The white meat parts of a chicken are the breasts and wings, while the legs and thighs are dark meat because they have more muscle fibers thanks to standing all day.
It takes about 40-45 minutes to cook chicken wings at 400F in the oven. This should make the wings crispy and fully cooked through. Please note frozen wings may take a little longer.
Flipping the wings over will help to make both sides nice and crispy. We flip them over at the end under the broiler and only need to flip them once during this recipe.
