🛒 Ingredients

Cinnamon Rolls: Use two 12.5-ounce cans of cinnamon rolls with icing. Any brand works, but rolls that unroll into long strips bake more evenly and create better layers throughout the cobbler.
Apple Pie Filling: Use your favorite apple pie filling, about 2 cups total. This creates the soft, saucy apple base that gives the cobbler its classic texture and sweetness.
Pecans (Optional): Chopped pecans add crunch and a cozy fall flavor, making the cobbler feel extra seasonal and bakery-style.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.
🔀 Substitutions & Variations
Cinnamon Rolls: Leftover cinnamon rolls work well here. For seasonal fun, try Cinnamon Roll Intestines. Homemade dough can be used if cut into small pieces so it bakes through evenly.
Apple Pie Filling: Homemade apple pie filling works just as well as canned. If you go that route, aim for about 2 cups, like the filling used in Instant Pot Apple Pie Filling or Apple Pie with Graham Cracker Crust.
Pecans: Pecans are optional and can be omitted for nut-free households, or swapped with walnuts if that's what you have on hand.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
- Buy store brands: Use store-brand cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling to cut down costs. They're often much cheaper and just as tasty.
- Watch for sales: Pick up cinnamon rolls and pie filling when they're on sale or discounted seasonal stock.
- Use pecans or skip: Pecans add flavor but aren't essential. You can omit them or substitute cheaper nuts like walnuts.
- Use other pie fillings: If you have leftover peach or cherry pie filling in your pantry, swap it in for a twist without extra cost.
- Stretch with extras: Add diced apples from your crisper or canned fruit you already have on hand.
🥄 Instructions for Cinnamon Roll Apple Cobbler
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350℉ and grease the inside of a 9x13 baking dish. Set it aside.

Step 2: Open your cans of cinnamon rolls and then remove them from each other so that they are all laying flat on a cutting board. Slice each one into quarters and then place it into your baking dish in a nice and even layer if possible.
Step 3: Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the cinnamon rolls.

Step 4: Spoon your apple pie filling nicely over the top, trying to spread out the apple chunks and filling as you can so that each piece will have a good amount of everything.

Step 5: If desired, you can sprinkle ¼ cup of chopped pecans over the top of the cinnamon rolls at this point.

Step 6: Bake in the oven at 350℉ for 1 hour and remove from oven. Check the center cinnamon rolls to see if they have finished cooking through and if they have, set the pan aside for 10 minutes to cool.
Step 7: Open a packet (or both packets) and drizzle the icing over the top of your apple cinnamon roll cobbler.
Slice, serve, and enjoy!

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Not a Traditional Cobbler: This Cinnamon Roll Apple Cobbler bakes more like monkey bread than a classic cobbler. Call it apple cinnamon monkey bread or cobbler either way, it's delicious.
- Prep the Rolls: Slice cinnamon rolls into small pieces like monkey bread. Drizzle butter on top for color and flavor as it bakes.
- Check Doneness: Test the center pieces since the apple filling can keep them soft. If needed, bake 5 minutes longer. Let rest 10 minutes to finish cooking and thicken.
❄️ Storage, Reheating & Make Ahead
Storage: Keep leftover cinnamon roll apple cobbler covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheating: Warm individual servings in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until heated through, or heat in a preheated oven at low temperature until warmed through, this helps keep the texture nice.
Make Ahead: You can assemble the cobbler ingredients ahead of time, cover the baking dish, and refrigerate overnight. Bake fresh the next day for warm serving.
🥗 Side Dishes or Pairing Ideas
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for dessert. Pair with fresh fruit salad or orange slices to balance sweetness.
For breakfast/brunch, offer alongside scrambled eggs or yogurt parfaits for a more complete spread.

I was excited to try this easy apple cobbler recipe. It tasted good BUT, it was very dry. 🙃 Not like cobbler texture at all. Next time I am gonna put in the same amount of apple filling, But Less cinnamon roll pieces. It only got moist when I topped it with Vanilla ice cream. Thanks for sharing.
