This awesome cream cheese fruit dip is the best fruit dip ever. It's sweet but not too sweet, rich but creamy and light too. It's easy to scoop with both soft and firm fruits as well as berries.
This vanilla dip tastes great with every fruit we've tried (and we've tried a lot!) It also tastes incredible with Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Chips (almost like a spiced cheesecake!)
If you want a different fruit dip to serve alongside this one, then try our Peanut Butter Yogurt Fruit Dip. Serving them together at a party is a recipe for success! For a spicy/savory option, I ALWAYS recommend this Tomato Jalapeno Salsa, but our Apple Berry Salsa is a fantastic option too!

💛 Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Minimal ingredients. To make this cream cheese and cool whip fruit dip, you will only need 4 ingredients, plus your favorite fruits and berries! It's almost like a No Bake Cool Whip Cheesecake but in a bowl instead of a No Bake Graham Cracker Crust.
- This dip takes moments to prepare. With an electric mixer and softened ingredients ready to use, this dip comes together incredibly fast and is ready to eat immediately.
- Perfect for any occasion. Serve this up as a sweet dip for holiday parties, get-togethers, tailgates, and more. You can even serve leftover dip between your french toast or pancakes for a "stuffed" breakfast the next day (like these Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes)- there are so many possibilities!
🛒 Ingredients

Cream cheese- This will give us a rich and creamy base for the dip. Make sure that your cream cheese is thawed before using.
Powdered sugar- Makes the dip nice and sweet while keeping the texture nice and smooth. If making the dip a day or more in advance, granulated sugar can be used.
Cool Whip- This is what makes the dip fluffy and light, so it's easy to scoop into with your sliced fruits. See notes below on making your own whipped topping.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.
🔀 Substitutions & Variations
Cool Whip: You can replace the Cool Whip with 3 cups of homemade whipped cream made by beating 1½ cups heavy cream, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Mix-Ins: You can customize this recipe by stirring in simple add-ins like rainbow sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, a little brown sugar, peanut butter, Nutella, or crushed Oreo cookies. Add as much or as little as you like to create different flavors and textures.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Use store-brand ingredients. Generic cream cheese, whipped topping, and powdered sugar taste identical in dips like this and cost significantly less.
Buy fruit in season or on markdown. This dip makes even budget-friendly produce feel special. Apples, bananas, canned pineapple, and grapes are often the cheapest year-round.
Stretch the dip for parties. Add 1 extra cup of Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream) to increase volume without noticeably changing the flavor.
🥄 Instructions for Creamy Vanilla Fruit Dip

Step 1: Add your cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Use an electric mixer to beat together until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 3: Fold in the Cool Whip until well combined.

The dip should be fluffy and light.
Serve with your favorite fruits and enjoy.

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Do not overmix. When beating the cream cheese together with the sugar, you do not want to overmix. Just beat together until the mixture is smooth and combined. To overmix can result in a gummy-like texture.
- Use thawed ingredients. You need to use thawed cream cheese for this recipe, or else the cream cheese will leave little balls of cream cheese scattered throughout the dip.
❄️ Storage and Make Ahead
Fridge Storage: Keep unused Creamy Vanilla Fruit Dip in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Once the dip has been used with fruit, plan to finish it within 1-2 days. To extend freshness, portion the dip before serving so unused portions stay uncontaminated.
Freezer Storage: Freeze the dip in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge and re-whip before serving. The texture may change slightly but will still taste great.
Make Ahead: Prepare the dip up to 1 day in advance, cover well, and refrigerate. Let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving so it softens enough for easy dipping.
🥗 Side Dishes or Pairing Ideas
This cool whip dip for fruit pairs well with sliced apples, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple, but it's also great with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, or cinnamon pita chips. It works perfectly on a dessert board, alongside a brunch spread, or as a topping for brownies, pound cake, or sweet breads.

❓ Recipe FAQs
We love this dip with anything slightly tart, so pineapple, strawberries, and grapes are amongst our favorites. Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and apple slices are also incredible options. Graham crackers also make a fantastic option, if you want more variety.
If you did not thaw your cream cheese long enough you may notice little white lumps of unmixed cream cheese throughout your dip. While this may be unpleasant to look at, it's still fine and tasty!
Yes, you can wash and assemble multiple fruits the night before, such as strawberries, blueberries, grapes, watermelon, cherries, and pineapple. Fruits that are best prepared the day of or right before serving include apples and bananas.
