💛 Why You'll Love This Recipe

  1. Minimal ingredients. These strawberry and cream turnovers are simple to make and can be made with as few as three ingredients.
  2. They taste amazing. A crispy, buttery shell filled with a rich, creamy, fruity center means they disappear fast.
  3. Easy to customize. Swap the strawberry jam for blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, or whatever you have on hand for a new twist.

🛒 Ingredients

labeled ingredients needed to make strawberry cream cheese turnovers.

Puff pastry sheets. Use thawed puff pastry to form the flaky, buttery shell. If you have extra, try our Puff Pastry Egg Tart.

Strawberry jam. Adds fruity sweetness to the filling. Store bought or homemade both work. See How to Make Strawberry Jam for canning.

Cream cheese. Creates a rich, creamy filling that pairs perfectly with strawberries. Save some for our Peaches and Cream Sourdough Muffins.

Egg wash. Made with an egg and a little water. Brushing it on gives the turnovers a shiny, golden finish.

Glaze. A simple mix of powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk for drizzling on top.

See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.

🔀 Substitutions & Variations

Fruit spread options. Jam, jelly, or preserves all work well, whether store bought or homemade. Be sure to seal the edges well to prevent leaking. For a lighter option, try a sugar free blueberry jam like my Sugar Free Blueberry Jam.

💰 Budget-Friendly Tips

Watch for pastry sales: Puff pastry freezes well, so stock up when it's discounted.

Use homemade or store-brand jam: Both work great and help keep costs down.

Go light on the glaze: A thin drizzle stretches the powdered sugar further without sacrificing sweetness.

👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

  1. Thaw the pastry. Use puff pastry from the deli or freezer section and be sure it's fully thawed before assembling.
  2. Optional finishing touches. The egg wash adds a golden color and the glaze adds extra sweetness, but both are optional.
  3. Keep it flexible. Whether you go simple or dress them up, using a good strawberry jam and cream cheese makes these turnovers delicious every time.

❄️ Storage, Reheating & Make Ahead

Storage: Store turnovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

Reheating: Reheat on a microwave-safe plate in 15-second intervals until warmed through.

Make Ahead: Freeze baked and cooled turnovers for up to 3 months. Thaw and reheat before serving.
