Inspired by my whipped frozen lemonade recipe I made a festive Halloween version featuring LIME JELLO. It's so unbelievably good and creamy. This frozen zombie drink is perfect for the holidays and the lingering summer heat.
A delightful and refreshing beverage that combines the zesty flavor of lime Jello with the creamy goodness of whipped topping. Sweet, tangy, and perfect.
Make sure to have a dry erase marker handy because the zombie faces won't paint themselves on the glass. (This is a great idea for kids to make their own cup designs).

💛 Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Drink + art project: The zombie faces add instant wow factor and spooky fun, even if they rub off after serving.
- Cool and refreshing: Light, creamy lime flavor makes this drink perfect for warm weather or Halloween hangs with zombie friends (or vampire friends, check out our Halloween Bleeding Cupcakes).
- Simple ingredients: You only need a handful of easy, affordable ingredients, and there's a good chance you already have most of them on hand.
🛒 Ingredients

Heavy Cream- You'll want some heavy whipping cream to give us a rich and creamy consistency in the drink, as well as create the zombie brain look on top.
Lime Jello- You will need a box of lime jello to give us the green zombie color and wonderful citrus taste.
Pink Food Coloring- Use pink food coloring (liquid or gel) to get that zombie brain pink color that we're looking for. It won't change the taste, but it will look pretty neat.
See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Skip name brands: Store-brand gelatin and food coloring work just as well for a fraction of the cost.
Stretch the cream: You can swap up to ½ cup of the heavy cream for milk if needed. The texture will be slightly lighter but still fun and creamy.
Party-size smart: Double the recipe and blend in batches for Halloween parties instead of buying individual drinks.
🥄 Instructions for Frozen Whipped Zombie Brains
Step 1: Take 4 clear glasses and make zombie faces on them with dry erase markers. Be careful as the image will rub off when touched. Set glasses aside.
Step 2: In a small pot on the stove, combine jello and warm boiling water until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool (but not set).
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with the sugar and vanilla on high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. This should take about 4-5 minutes.
Step 4: In a blender, combine the ice with the cooled lime jello mixture. Blend for about a minute.
Step 5: Add in almost all of the whipped cream from the bowl, reserving one cup in the bowl. Blend again until well combined, and no large ice chunks remain.
Step 6: Add a drop or two of pink food coloring into the whipped cream and blend until combined and the leftover whipped cream is all pink.
Step 7: Divide the green drink between your 4 glasses and spoon the pink brains over the top. Serve immediately.

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Cool the Jello first: Let the Jello mixture cool to room temperature before blending so you don't need extra ice that could water down the flavor.
- Pink brains topping: Blend reserved whipped cream with a drop of pink food coloring, then spoon it on for a chunky, brain-like look.
- Zombie glasses: Draw faces on glass cups with dry erase marker for a fun effect. Markers won't stick well to plastic.
❄️ Storage and Make Ahead
Storage: These Frozen Whipped Zombie Brains is best enjoyed immediately. Once blended, the ice will melt and thin the texture.
Make Ahead: You can prepare the whipped cream topping and store it covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Blend the drink fresh right before serving for best texture and color.

❓ Recipe FAQs
If desired, you don't have to dissolve the mix first, but I do recommend it. Without the dissolving, the texture of the lime jello slushy will be a bit gritty, which can be unpleasant to some. With the dissolving, the drink is able to remain creamier.
Unlike kool aid, jello needs a little help to dissolve properly, which is why we can add kool aid straight into a slushie like in our Kool Aid Slushies, but have to take an extra step of preparation here.
No, you shouldn't assemble the drink before it is needed. Assembling too soon will result in it melting before being drunk. You can, however, make the whipped cream portion of the recipe and keep it covered in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Adding in some more ice will help to give you a thicker consistency. Adding in less ice will have the opposite effect. The drink will naturally thin down as the ice melts, so drink up quickly.

📖 Recipe
Frozen Whipped Zombie Brains
Ingredients
- 1 box (3.4 ounces) lime gelatin mix - ($1.18)
- 1 cup water - ($0.00)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream - ($2.98)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar - ($0.05)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract - ($0.03)
- 6-7 cups ice cubes - ($0.00)
- 1-2 drops pink food coloring - ($0.02)
Instructions
- Decorate glasses. Draw zombie faces on four clear glasses using dry-erase markers. Set aside and avoid touching the designs.
- Dissolve gelatin. In a small saucepan, combine the lime gelatin mix and hot water. Stir until fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature without setting.
- Whip cream. In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Blend base. Add the ice cubes and cooled gelatin mixture to a blender. Blend for about 1 minute until slushy.
- Add cream. Add most of the whipped cream to the blender, reserving about 1 cup. Blend again until smooth with no large ice chunks.
- Color topping. Add the pink food coloring to the reserved whipped cream and gently mix or pulse until evenly tinted.
- Assemble. Divide the green drink between the prepared glasses and spoon the pink whipped cream over the top.
- Serve. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Gelatin temperature. Let the gelatin cool before blending to avoid melting excess ice and diluting flavor.
- Texture control. Ice creates thickness. Add more for a thicker drink if needed.
- Pink topping. Keeping the whipped cream chunky helps create a brain-like look.
- Glass art. Permanent marker works for longer display on glass only.
- Smoothness. Dissolving the gelatin first prevents gritty texture.
