We love simple and easy lunch ideas around here and these chicken bombs are a kid (and adult) favorite. Every bite is bursting with flavor and despite how filling these bombs taste, you can't help going back for another. These Canned Chicken Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls are as frugal as they are delicious!

With only 6 ingredients it's easy to pull together and doesn't take much time at all. The hardest part is waiting for them to come out of the oven because about mid-way the house is filled with such an amazing aroma that your stomach growls and mouth drools in anticipation.

  1. Simple ingredients. Made with basic, easy to find ingredients that still deliver great flavor.
  2. Easy prep. Just mix the filling, spoon it into crescent rolls, and roll them up. If you enjoy simple bakes like Strawberry Cheesecake Crescent Rolls or Apple Pie Bites, this will be right up your alley.
  3. Quick to bake. Ready in about 20 minutes, so you can be enjoying something delicious in 30 minutes or less.

🛒 Ingredients

ingredients needed for chicken ranch bacon crescent bombs.

Chicken. Use canned chicken or shredded cooked chicken for easy mixing.

Cheeses. A blend of cheddar and Parmesan adds rich, savory flavor.

Ranch seasoning. A packet of ranch seasoning boosts the flavor of the filling.

Crescent rolls. Canned crescent rolls form the shells for the chicken bombs. If you have extras, try our Crescent Roll Cream Cheese Danish.

See the recipe card below for full ingredients and instructions.

💰 Budget-Friendly Tips

Use canned or leftover chicken: Canned chicken keeps costs predictable, but leftover or rotisserie chicken works just as well and can be even cheaper.

Choose store-brand dairy: Generic cream cheese, shredded cheese, and crescent rolls usually cost less and bake the same.

Stretch the bacon: A small amount adds plenty of flavor, or you can omit it entirely to save a bit more.

🥄 Instructions for Chicken Bacon Ranch Bombs

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and set a muffin tray to the side, you'll need it soon.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl cream together the ingredients for the chicken, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, ranch, bacon, and parmesan cheese.

Step 3: Unroll your crescents and lay them over the muffin cups, pressing down slightly in the center to create little cups.

Step 4: Generously fill each cup with about ¼ cup of filling mixture. The mixture should be completely divided between the cups with none remaining in the bowl.

Step 5: Fold the triangle pieces of the crescent rolls over the top to cover the top. It's okay if it's not perfect and there are small holes, but you can also pinch them closed to better seal in the filling.

Step 6: Place the muffin tray in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 7: Let cool for about 5 minutes before eating.

👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

  1. Use a muffin tray. The muffin pan makes shaping these chicken cheese bombs much easier and helps them hold their form while baking.
  2. Do not stress the dough. Crescent rolls are flexible and forgiving. Small gaps or holes are fine, as the muffin tray keeps everything contained.
  3. Seal as best you can. Pull, pinch, twist, or fold the corners to cover the filling. Perfection is not necessary.
  4. Let them rest. Allow the bombs to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes so any melted cheese can set, making them easier to remove.

❄️ Storage, Reheating & Make Ahead

Storage: Store cooled Chicken Bacon Ranch Bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Reheating: Reheat on a baking sheet at 350°F for 5-8 minutes to keep the crescent flaky, or microwave for 1-2 minutes if needed.

Make Ahead: Assemble the cups up to 24 hours in advance, cover tightly, and refrigerate. Bake just before serving for best texture.

🥗 Side Dishes or Pairing Ideas

❓ Recipe FAQs

How long are chicken bombs good for?

After these chicken bomb crescent rolls have cooled down completely, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. I recommend eating them sooner rather than later for best tasting results.

How to reheat chicken crescent rolls

To reheat them in the oven I would place a wire baking rack on a baking sheet and place the muffins on top. Then bake until heated through (about 5-8 minutes on 350 degrees F). The wire rack helps air circulate underneath so that they don't become soggy and remain crisp. You can also reheat them in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes.

Do I have to use canned chicken?

You can use canned chicken like we did or you can use shredded chicken from leftovers or a rotisserie chicken (whatever you have on hand).

Equipment

  • Measuring Spoons
  • Measuring Cups
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Muffin Tray

Ingredients

Filling

  • 2 cans (5 ounces) chicken, drained - ($2.36)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened - ($1.86)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded - ($1.99)
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix - ($0.50)
  • 3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (about ½ cup) - ($0.60)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese - ($0.20)

Crescent Cups

  • 2 cans (8 count each) crescent roll dough - ($3.96)
US Customary - Metric

Instructions

  • Preheat. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a muffin tin.
  • Make filling. In a large bowl, mix the chicken, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning, bacon, and Parmesan cheese until evenly combined. An electric mixer works well, but mixing by hand is fine.
  • Form cups. Unroll the crescent dough and press the triangles into the muffin cups to form small dough cups.
  • Fill. Divide the filling evenly between the cups, about ¼ cup per cup, until all the filling is used.
  • Seal. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching gently if needed. Small gaps are fine.
  • Bake. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown.
  • Cool. Let rest in the pan for about 5 minutes before removing and serving.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

  • Chicken options. Canned chicken, shredded leftovers, or rotisserie chicken all work. Use about 1 ½ cups shredded chicken if substituting.
  • Crescent dough. Folding the dough over the filling can be imperfect. Gaps will seal as they bake.
  • Resting time. Allowing the cups to rest briefly helps the cheese filling firm up.
  • Storage. Store cooled crescent cups in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5 to 8 minutes or microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.
