For a healthier summer drink, you're going to want to put your hands on this keto Italian soda. Made with just 2 ingredients it's sugar free and pretty healthy.

Looking for a sugar free Italian soda recipe that you can feel good about? Great news, this recipe is it!
Inspired by regular Italian Sodas, I wanted one that was a little better for you. Fewer sugar, calories, carbs, etc. This way, I could share it with diabetic family members and give my kids a special treat without overloading them on sugar (they definitely get enough of that already haha).
I really hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
Why This Recipe Works
- It's better for you than standard Italian soda drinks. Made with just a few simple ingredients, this Keto Italian cream soda is very diet friendly and easy to incorporate into your day.
- Multiple flavor options! We make this Keto Italian soda with sparkling ice (flavored sparkling water), so there are dozens of flavorful possibilities to try.
- It's not too sweet. As you can imagine, this drink isn't too sweet, but you can always adjust that by adding in a sugar-free alternative. I like to add a little bit of whipped cream on top for added sweetness.

🥘 Ingredients
Sparkling Water- In traditional Italian soda drinks, we need sweet flavored syrup and club soda for a fizzy taste. Our sparkling water replaces both of those because it's already flavored and fizzy! Use your favorite sparkling water for this recipe, and you're sure to enjoy this drink.
Ice- A cup of ice cubes is needed to keep your drink chilly and refreshing.
Heavy Cream- Heavy cream adds a nice appearance as well as a creamy taste to help tone down some of the acidic taste of the sparkling water.

🔪 Instructions
Check out how to make keto Italian soda with these simple step-by-step instructions:
Fill a drinking cup with ice cubes.
Pour in enough sparkling water to bring the contents up to 1 inch below the rim of the glass.
Add in your heavy cream.
Mix and taste.
Adjust as needed. If it's too acidic, add in a little more heavy cream. The exact ratio will depend upon the size of the glass up you have chosen to use.
🧾 Substitutions
Heavy Cream. You could replace the heavy cream with sweetened almond milk or coconut milk for fewer calories or a dairy-free option. Using whole milk will work too, but will be more likely to curdle when the drink is mixed (safe to drink, just not pretty to look at).
📖 Variations
Different flavors
Enjoy this recipe with any flavor of sparkling water you want! Our favorites have been black raspberry flavor as well as mango orange and coconut pineapple (which tastes like a pina colada!)
🥣 Recipe Add-Ins
Adding fruits
For natural sweetness and flavor, muddle some fresh berries at the bottom of the glass before adding the remaining contents or toss some frozen mixed berries into your cup (a great alternative to all of that ice too!)
Muddling means to lightly smash fruits or herbs for a drink, and is a bartending term. So basically, mash or pulverize some fruit at the bottom of the cup to release its flavor and color, and you're good to go!
🍴 Recipe Tips
This drink is best when served right after being made. The longer you allow it to sit, the more it will separate and the less appetizing it will be.
The heavy cream will curdle the longer it sits in the sparkling drink, and eventually, the chunks will rise while the bottom of the glass looks clearer. You've got a few minutes before this happens, and you can stir to incorporate, but it is worth keeping in mind.
💭 FAQs
By adding the cream last, you can allow it to gently fall to the bottom of the glass. The drink is less likely to curdle until after you have fully mixed it in. If the presentation is important with this drink, present it without stirring and have it stirred just before drinking.
Acidic drinks like sparkling water or club soda can have a distinct bitter flavor when not properly balanced. Adding in more cream to the drink can help to offset this taste.
Italian sodas are nonalcoholic drinks made with carbonated soda, flavored syrups, half and half, or cream. For this recipe, we use flavored sparkling water to replace the flavored syrup and soda for a healthier alternative.
