One of my cherished childhood memories involves ordering delivery from Godfather's, just a short drive away. Their M&M-topped streusel pizza was a highlight I always looked forward to.
As I grew older, deliveries became less frequent until I completely forgot about this part of my childhood. When the memory resurfaced, I was disappointed to find that M&Ms were no longer available.
Unable to afford delivery every time I craved it, I decided to recreate my own Godfather's streusel dessert pizza. To my delight, this copycat version is just as satisfying as the original.
Pair this dessert pizza with homemade pizzas using Pizza Dough In a Bag for a frugal pizza night. Don't forget to include some classic pizzas like French Bread Pepperoni Pizza, Air Fryer English Muffin Pizza, or Pepperoni Pizza Pasta Bake.

🛒 Ingredients
Yeast. Active dry or instant yeast works to help the dough rise.
Flour. All purpose or bread flour can be used to form the dough.
Butter. Melted butter is brushed on the pizza to add flavor and help the topping stick.
Shortening or Butter. Used for the streusel topping. Shortening holds up well, but cold butter works too.
Mini M&Ms (Optional). A fun addition to the topping if you want extra color and sweetness.

💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Homemade dough over store-bought: Making your own pizza dough costs just pennies compared to refrigerated or bakery dough and uses pantry staples you likely already have.
Stretch ingredients across recipes: The extra streusel can be saved and used on muffins, quick breads, or oatmeal, turning one prep into multiple desserts.
Use what you have: If you already have shortening, oil, or even leftover candy from holidays, this recipe is a great way to use them up instead of buying new toppings.

❓ Recipe FAQs
This leftover pizza is good in the fridge for about 3-5 days. I recommend reheating for a minute in the microwave for that fresh delivered taste and a softer chew.
The pizza dough can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the fridge in an airtight container or wrapped well with plastic wrap. I would wait until you're at least within a few hours of eating before preparing the entire dessert pizza though.
Either! While it tastes good cold, I recommend enjoying it while it's nice and warm. That's how Godfathers serves it. 😉

- 1 tablespoon warm water - ($0.00)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract - ($0.01)
Instructions
- Make the pizza dough. In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add the flour, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead and rest. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and place the dough inside. Let rest while the oven preheats.
- Preheat the oven. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Make the streusel. In a bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, olive oil, and shortening until large pea-sized crumbs form. Set aside.
- Prepare the cinnamon butter. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and cinnamon until combined.
- Assemble. Press the rested dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared cake pan. Brush the cinnamon butter over the dough. Sprinkle the streusel mixture evenly over the top, reserving any extra for later use. Sprinkle with the mini M&Ms.
- Bake. Bake for about 10 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool slightly. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Make the icing and serve. Stir together the powdered sugar, water, and vanilla until smooth. Transfer to a plastic bag, snip the corner, and drizzle over the dessert pizza. Slice and serve warm.

- Storage. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. Reheat briefly in the microwave for a softer texture.

I didn't have bread flour, but all purpose flour still made this really yummy. Tender, slightly chewy crust and really good flavor, with or without mini M&Ms. If you want the glaze to be blobs like Godfather's, don't water it down by adding more than what's in the recipe. This was so tasty and a fun treat for our family. Thanks!
