💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Use Store-Brand Cake Mix: Generic yellow or white cake mix works just as well as name brands and costs less.
Stick With Basic Food Coloring: Liquid food coloring is inexpensive and perfectly fine here. Gel is optional, not required.
Skip Sprinkles if Needed: The red, white, and blue icing already adds plenty of color, so sprinkles are purely optional.
Make It Stretch: Fireworks Bundt Cake slices easily into smaller portions, making this a budget-friendly dessert for a crowd.
🥄 Instructions for Fireworks Bundt Cake
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, prepare the boxed cake mix as requested per package with the eggs, water, and oil.
Step 3: Divide the batter between three bowls, and in one bowl, add the red food coloring, and in another, add in blue coloring.
Step 4: Prepare your bundt pan with cooking spray and flour to prevent sticking.
Step 5: Pour one of the cake batters into the pan.
Step 6: Pour another colored batter on top of the one in the pan aiming for the middle of the batter as you make a ring around the pan. Repeat with the last color.
Step 7: Bake your cake in the oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted and it comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan and flip onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 8: Whisk together the icing ingredients (powdered sugar and water) in a bowl until smooth. Divide the batter into three bowls, and in one, add red coloring and add blue coloring to another. Leave the third color white.
Step 9: Pour each icing into a separate Ziploc bag and snip the corners. Drizzle each color over the top of the bundt cake and then top with sprinkles if desired.
Slice and serve.

👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Color the batter. Use gel food coloring for brighter, more vibrant shades since a little goes a long way.
- Layer thoughtfully. Add the colored batters in any order you like. Keep in mind the outer edges will bake thinner than the center as the batter expands.
- Create a marble look. For a marbled effect, scoop the different batters into the pan using a quarter cup measure or large cookie scoop instead of pouring. This adds a fun, swirled look as the cake bakes.
❄️ Storage and Make Ahead
Storage: Store the Fireworks Bundt Cake covered at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
Make Ahead: Bake the cake 1-2 days ahead and ice it the day of serving. The cake (iced or uniced) can also be frozen for up to 3 months and thawed at room temperature.

Yes, this cake can be made in advance! It can last for up to a week at room temperature in an airtight container or about the same length of time in the fridge too.
Absolutely! You can freeze this cake after it's been iced or before. Keep in mind that if freezing after the cake has been iced, there will be some color bleeding from the icing as it thaws, but the cake will still look and taste pretty great. It brings joy to both the folks being celebrated and those who attend. Plus, it's a fantastic addition to any celebration. And let's not forget the wide array of cake flavors, styles, and shapes, which add an extra dose of fun and personal touch to any special occasion!
