Air fryer corn on the cob is the best way to get juicy, flavorful results out of ordinary veggies. Covered in seasoning, butter, or oil, and fried until plump or slightly charred around the edges, this corn tastes like it came off the grill, and it only takes 8 minutes to cook.

We have enjoyed our fresh summer corn this way so many times this year that our air fryer actually broke from overuse. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not the corn's fault. My air fryer was several years old at this point and used to make everything from Air Fryer Dino Nuggets to Air Fryer Turkey Breast and Air Fried Oreo Cookies. If I could fry it, I did.
But one of the most frugal and beloved ways was with this corn. Corn on the cob is such a cheap veggie in the summer that you can often find it priced around 5 cobs for $2, or if you're friends with a local farmer, you could ask to glean their fields for free and walk away with plenty more.
My favorite way to season our corn is with Cajun seasoning or Blackened seasoning mixes. Adding both color, flavor, and a little kick of heat to contrast the naturally sweetened corn.
Serve up your corn with some Dairy Free Mashed Potatoes and some Crispy Baked Chicken Quarters for an affordable, yet tasty meal.

💛 Why You'll Love This Recipe
- It's so fast to make. The prep work is minimal and quick, but so is the cooking time. With only 8 minutes on the clock, you can have tasty corn in no time. To boil it would take longer (when including time to heat the water), and a grill it would take a while to preheat as well. This means this corn is perfect for last-minute additions to stretch your dinner.
- It's versatile. You can keep it simple or make it fancier. Season with just salt and pepper, or use a spiced seasoning blend of choice. I've already mentioned that I prefer Cajun corn on the cob.
- You can adjust the size of the cobs! If you find yourself with more guests than corn, slice it in half or into 1-2 inch chunks and fry as directed. This makes it appear like there are more servings, and it actually helps it to stretch further and with less waste. Just in case someone is picky and tries it and decides it's not for them, they'll not be wasting a full-size cob.
🛒 Ingredients

- Corn on the cob. I have tried this Air Fryer Corn on the Cob recipe with fresh and frozen corn on the cob. Frozen takes about twice as long to cook, and while they both taste delicious, fresh yields much better results.
- Oil or melted butter. You can use olive oil or melted butter to brush over the cobs before cooking. This will help the kernels to heat up evenly, become golden in color, and help any seasonings to adhere to the cob.

🔀 Substitutions & Variations
Seasonings. Feel free to mix and match or experiment with flavors you think will taste good here. Some ideas include salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, parmesan cheese, or herbs.
My personal favorite is brushing the Air Fryer Corn on the Cob with melted butter and then sprinkling Blackened Seasoning or Cajun Seasoning blends over it. Then we get the perfect blend of sweet and savory in every bite.
💰 Budget-Friendly Tips
Fresh Corn Sales: When corn is in season, I can usually grab it for about a quarter per cob, making this side dish super cheap and perfect for feeding a crowd.
Frozen Corn on the Cob: Frozen corn works just as well and is handy for off-season. Stock up when it's on sale and keep a bag in the freezer for quick sides.
Butter & Seasonings: Keep it simple, just butter, salt, and pepper. If you want variety without extra cost, try seasoning blends you already have in the pantry instead of buying something new.
Stretch the Meal: Corn on the cob is hearty enough to round out a dinner with smaller portions of meat. Pair it with affordable proteins like grilled chicken drumsticks or pork chops to keep the whole meal budget-friendly.
Another option for stretching servings, in case there weren't enough cobs for 1 per person- Chop each cob into 1-2 inch sized chunks and follow the recipe as directed. This makes it appear as though there's more, allows everyone to try some, and reduces the risk of wasting unfinished cobs.
🥄 Instructions for Air Fryer Corn on the Cob
Step 1: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 3-5 minutes. Use this time to prepare the corn.

Step 2: Unhusk and wash all of your corn, being sure to remove as many of the stringy bits and green husk as you can. If needed, cut the corn in half or smaller pieces so it fits in your air fryer. (Image 1).
Step 3: Brush each ear of corn lightly with olive oil or melted butter. (Image 2). Season with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices. (Image 3).
Step 4: Place the corn in the air fryer basket in a single layer. (Image 4).
Step 5: Cook at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through. Note that I normally don't turn my corn, and it ends up fine.
Step 6: Check for tenderness. The kernels should be tender and lightly browned. If you like more caramelization, add 1-2 more minutes.
Serve immediately with extra butter or toppings of choice.
👩🏻🍳 Expert Tips
- Be careful when removing the corn from the basket. The cobs and basket will be very hot. Use tongs to avoid burning yourself.
- Season after cooking for best flavor. Some delicate spices (like garlic powder or Parmesan) can burn in the air fryer. Instead, brush with oil and salt first, then add the flavorful toppings after cooking.
- Experiment with toppings. Try squeezing lime juice over the cooked corn, sprinkling it with cotija cheese, or brushing it with BBQ sauce for something unique.
- Don't overcrowd the basket. Leaving space between cobs ensures they cook evenly and brown nicely.
❄️ Storage, Reheating & Make Ahead
Storage: Refrigerate cooked corn in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, cut kernels off the cob and freeze in a bag for up to 3 months, great for soups, salads, or casseroles.
Reheating: Air fry at 350°F for 3-5 minutes until warmed through. Or microwave 30-60 seconds (kernels may lose some crispness).
Make Ahead: Husk and season up to 1 day in advance, storing in the fridge. If prepping earlier, wait to brush with butter or oil until just before cooking to prevent sogginess.

Air Fryer Corn on the Cob
Ingredients
- 2-4 ears corn on the cob, husks removed - ($1.32)
- 1-2 teaspoons olive oil or butter - ($0.12)
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning, optional - ($0.09)
- salt and ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes while preparing the corn.
- Prep corn. Remove husks and rinse the corn, removing as much silk as possible. If needed, cut the corn in half or into smaller pieces so it fits comfortably in the air fryer basket.
- Season. Brush each ear lightly with olive oil or melted butter. Season with salt, black pepper, and Cajun seasoning, if using.
- Arrange. Place the corn in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook. Air fry at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes. Turning halfway through is optional; the corn cooks evenly either way.
- Check doneness. The kernels should be tender and lightly browned. For more caramelization, cook an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
- Serve. Serve immediately with extra butter or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Fresh vs. Frozen Corn: Fresh corn cooks in about 8 minutes, while frozen cobs take closer to 15 minutes. No need to thaw first.
- Cutting Corn: If your cobs don't fit in the air fryer basket, simply cut them in half or into smaller chunks before cooking.
- Charred Flavor: For more of a "grilled" taste, cook 1-2 minutes longer until slightly caramelized.
- Reheating Tip: Pop leftovers back in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes for that just-cooked taste.
