Making perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs has never been easier thanks to your Instant Pot! With just a few minutes you can have a few or a lot of perfectly cooked eggs that peel easily too.
Add water. Add the water to the Instant Pot and place the trivet inside. Use 1 cup of water for a 6-quart or smaller Instant Pot, or 1 ½ cups for an 8-quart model.
Add eggs. Arrange the eggs on the trivet so they sit in a single layer and fit neatly.
Pressure cook. Close the lid, set the valve to sealing, and cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes.
Natural release. Allow the pressure to naturally release for 5 minutes, then carefully perform a manual release for any remaining pressure.
Ice bath. Transfer the eggs immediately to a bowl filled with ice and water. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Peel. Peel the eggs and use as desired.
Notes
Timing. The 5-minute cook time does not include the time it takes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure or release pressure.
Ice bath. Cooling the eggs quickly helps stop cooking and makes peeling easier.
Peeling tip. Crack the shell and peel from the wider end for best results.
Egg freshness test. Eggs that sink and lie flat in water are fresh. Eggs that float or stand upright are older.
