Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper, then lightly grease with nonstick cooking spray.
Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth. Set aside.
Slice the Dough: Open the crescent roll dough without unrolling it. Slice each dough log into 8 equal pieces.
Arrange Danishes: Place the dough rounds evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in batches if needed.
Create Indents: Use the back of a spoon or your thumb to press an indent into the center of each dough piece.
Fill: Spoon about ½ tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into each center. If not adding fruit or jam, you may use a slightly larger amount.
Optional Toppings: If desired, place a small amount of jam or a few pieces of fresh fruit or cherries in the center, keeping fillings away from the edges.
Bake: Bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
Glaze & Serve: Mix the powdered sugar and milk or water until smooth and thick. Drizzle over the danishes, then serve.
Notes
Filling Amount: The cream cheese and any added jam will spread as the danishes bake, so a small amount goes a long way.
Flavor Variations: Strawberry jam, cherry pie filling, blueberries, or diced peaches work well.
Storage: Allow danishes to cool completely before storing. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Freezing: Freeze danishes individually or layered with parchment paper in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
