Edible Pumpkin Playdough

Have some family fun this Fall with edible pumpkin playdough. Made with just three pantry staples and in about 5 minutes you can have fun for hours, if not days while smelling like pumpkin pie.

  • 1 can (15oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2-3 cups cornstarch


  • In a large mixing bowl combine the pumpkin puree with the pumpkin pie spice and 2 cups of cornstarch until combined.
  • Slowly add in more cornstarch if needed until the consisitency of playdough. You may not need all of the cornstarch.
  • Once mixed, enjoy a few hours of play before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.



  • Pumpkin pie spice. If you do not have pumpkin pie spice on hand you can just use 1 Tablespoon of ground cinnamon. You can also do a blend of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, and allspice depending on what you have on hand.
  • Cornstarch. You can replace the cornstarch with flour if desired but the actual amount needed will vary so add it in a little at a time until the desired consistency has been reached.


If desired you can turn this fall playdough into a fun sensory project by adding in different edible items with different textures for example any of these ideas would work well:
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Rice
  • Dry pasta noodles
  • Dried beans
  • Cinnamon sticks
