Place one cup of water and one cup of sugar into a pot over medium heat.
Cook until the sugar has dissolved and then set aside to cool.
Wash your strawberries.
Remove the tops and quarter them.
Place the berries into a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth.
Run the strawberries through a sieve *Optional -This will help to remove the pulp and some of the seeds (but not all of them).
Add your strawberry puree to a pitcher.
Add in the lemon juice.
Add your ice cubes.
Add in the remaining 4 cups of water.
Stir to combine. Serve cold and enjoy!
Notes
To squeeze more juice out of fresh lemons a tip I like to use is microwaving them for about 10-30 seconds. Then before slicing in half, roll them back and forth along the counter while pushing down on them, like you're rolling out a dough log. This helps to get more juice out of the lemons. If you don't have real lemons on hand you can use concentrate in a pinch. You can also use it to bring the fresh lemon juice up to the required measurement so you can keep that strong lemon flavor.StorageThis lemonade is good for up to 5 days. Make sure you keep it stored in the fridge when not being used.
