Making perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs has never been easier thanks to your Instant Pot! With just a few minutes you can have a few or a lot of perfectly cooked eggs that peel easily too.
Place your water and trivet inside of the Instant Pot. Use 1 cup of water if you have a 6qt or smaller Instant Pot and use 1.5 cups is you have an 8 quart or bigger IP.
Lay the eggs on the trivet so that they can fit in there neatly.
Close the lid and set the timer for 5 minutes on High Pressure. Let cook until it beeps.
Let the Instant Pot rest for 5 minutes after the beep to Naturally Release for 5 minutes, before manually releasing the rest of the pressure.
Transfer the eggs to a large bowl filled with an ice bath.
Let sit in the ice bath for 5 minutes.
Peel eggs and use as desired.
Notes
Be Patient: The 5-minute cook time doesn't include pressure build-up and release. Allow time for the Instant Pot to come to pressure, cook for 5 minutes, and then naturally depressurize for another 5 minutes on the "warm" mode.Ice Bath: After cooking, transfer the eggs to an ice bath. This helps in cooling them quickly and makes peeling easier.Peeling Technique: To avoid damaging the eggs while peeling, use the sides of your thumb and fingers if you have long nails.Testing Egg Freshness: You can check the freshness of eggs by placing them in a glass of water. If they float or stand upright, they're old. If they lay flat at the bottom, they're fresh and good to use.
