Check out this Oreo popcorn recipe and see what cookies and cream flavored bliss you've been missing out on. Made with America's favorite cookie and a household treat like buttery popcorn, this is one snack everyone can agree on!
Pop the popcorn and lay it out on a parchment paper or wax paper-lined baking sheet. Remove unpopped kernels if desired.
In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt your almond bark in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. This will take about 1-2 minutes.
Pour the white chocolate over the popcorn and toss well to coat evenly.
Break your Oreo cookies into small pieces. I like to do this by placing them in a Ziploc bag and smacking them with a rolling pin.
Pour the oreo cookies over the top of the popcorn. Toss well to coat.
Let the popcorn rest for several minutes to cool and set.
Serve and enjoy.
Notes
Substitutions
Popcorn. You can use buttery, unflavored, salty, or kettle popcorn (any popcorn of choice) to get a different flavorful combination depending on what you want. I used Movie Theater Butter Flavored popcorn and was surprised by how well it worked with the Oreos.
Variations
Oreos. Swap out the oreo cookies for differently flavored oreos. there's a lot of different cookie flavor variations and changing out the cookies can really change up the taste every time!
Recipe Tips
This popcorn recipe will be messy, there's no way around that. You can toss the melted white chocolate over the popcorn with your hands (after letting it cool down for a minute so you don't burn yourself) or you can toss it together like a salad with large spoons.
Eating it as-is as soon as it's mixed is perfectly fine, but it will be messy. Making it and then giving the chocolate a chance to solidify is a better way to enjoy the popcorn without the sticky mess.
You can use pre-popped popcorn (like store-bought popcorn) to cut down on the effort and time needed to make this recipe. I like to buy bags of popcorn from my local Dollar Tree when I want a simpler snack.
You can crush the cookies into small crumbs, later pieces, or simply quarter them by breaking them with your hands. the choice is yours. We like to do a mixture of Oreo crumbs and later cookie pieces so it feels more like a snack mix.
