Nothing says summer like frozen treats and ice cold tea, but combining the two makes southern sweet tea popsicles that are almost too good to be true.

These sweet tea popsicles are a delicious treat for any hot day or occasion. I am a big fan of southern sweet tea so these popsicles are perfect for me they're a great change of pace from the regular fruity popsicles that you normally see.
So if you find yourself relaxing by the pool with a tall glass of iced tea, then these iced tea popsicles might just be for you!

Why This Recipe Works
- It's cheap. To make this recipe you only need 3 ingredients and they're very cheap ones at that! I measured this recipe out as costing just over $0.25 to make!
- It's great for adults. While fruity popsicles have their time and place sometimes you just want something a bit more "grown-up" and while we don't have booze in these popsicles, not many kids crave sweet tea.
- They're versatile. You can swap out the black tea for green tea or use just about any of your favorite tea add-ins to make these popsicles customized to your own tastes!

🔪 Instructions
Check out how to make Southern Sweet Tea Popsicles with these simple step-by-step instructions:
Heat 1 cup of sugar with one cup of water in a saucepan, whisking together until dissolved.
Remove the pan from the heat and add in the tea bags.
Let rest for 10 minutes to steep. This will help us to get the most tea flavor from our bags.
Remove the tea bags and whisk in 2 cups of cold water. This will give us the right consistency as well as help us to cool down the liquid so that it's easier to handle when we pour.
Pour your sweet tea into your popsicle molds.
Make sure to add your popsicle sticks!
Freeze them for at least 4 hours, or longer (preferably overnight).
After they've frozen completely. Remove from the mold and keep individually wrapped and stored in an airtight container in the freezer.
🥣 Recipe Add-Ins
To make this tea more unique you can add some fun add-ins like:
- Fresh or frozen berries
- Sliced lemon or lemon zest
- Chopped peaches
🍴 Recipe Tips
Get the most flavor
Letting the tea steep for several minutes helps to get the most tea flavor from the bags before use. If desired you can cut down on the steeping time or increase it for a stronger flavor.
Alternative sweeteners
You can use sugar alternatives for this recipe like Splenda granulated sugar but you will need to taste the tea and adjust it to your own preferences. Keep in mind that liquid Splenda and honey should not be frozen so do not use them as sweeteners in these popsicles.
👩🏻🍳 Storage
You can keep your homemade popsicles stored in airtight containers (wrapped in plastic wrap first) for up to 6 weeks. They'll last almost indefinitely but the longer you keep them in the freezer the more flavor is lost thanks to freezer burn.
💭 FAQs
Depending on your mold and the temperature of the popsicle mixture inside, it can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours for the popsicles to fully freeze and set up.
I recommend letting the mold sit on the counter for about 5-10 minutes before trying to remove the popsicles from inside. Another option is to carefully run the bottom of the mold under warm running water just enough to loosen the popsicles.
You can use ice trays and toothpicks, disposable dixie cups and popsicle sticks, or even a muffin pan lined with aluminum foil! Just top the containers of choice with plastic wrap or foil before inserting the popsicle sticks so that they hold in place.
