There are just some things that "feel" like summer and iced tea is one of them. Cold popsicle treats are another and if you're from or in the south then you know how good fresh peaches are around June.

Combine them all together into one tasty recipe and you're in for a real treat! Of course, leaving out the peaches works well too, see for yourself with these Southern Sweet Tea Popsicles.

    Why This Recipe Works

    1. It is cheap! To make this recipe you only need 3 ingredients and they're very cheap ones at that! I measured this recipe out as costing under $0.20 per popsicle!
    2. It's great for adults. While fruity popsicles have their time and place sometimes you just want something a bit more "grown-up" and while we don't have booze in these popsicles, not many kids crave sweet tea.
    3. There are peaches! These peach tea popsicles don't just have the taste of peaches in every bite, but they actually have some frozen fruit in there as well!

ingredients needed to make peach tea popsicles

    🥘 Ingredients

Water- Water is needed for the base of the tea mixture.

Granulated sugar- Use granulated sugar for added sweetness. You can adjust this to taste.

Black tea bags- Sweet tea is usually made with black tea, so feel free to use your favorite brand.

Frozen peaches- This is where we get our peach chunks and flavor. You can use fresh peaches if desired but they'd require more prep work to remove the skin. Frozen peaches are far more convenient.

For specific quantities, see the recipe card below.

    🔪 Instructions

Check out how to make peach iced tea popsicles with these simple step-by-step instructions:

Heat 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of frozen peaches, in a saucepan until the sugar is dissolved and the peaches are soft.

Mash the peaches with a potato masher to make them into smaller pieces. Or remove them and dice into smaller pieces before returning to the pot.

Remove from heat and add in the tea bags. Let rest 10 minutes. This will help us to get the most tea flavor from our bags.

a tea bag in a pot of peaches sugar and water

Remove tea bags and whisk in 2 cups of cold water. This will give us the right consistency as well as help us to cool down the liquid so that it's easier to handle when we pour.

Pour the peach tea into your prepared popsicle molds.

Make sure to add your popsicle sticks!

Freeze them for at least 4 hours, or longer (preferably overnight).

After they've frozen completely. Remove from the mold and keep individually wrapped and stored in an airtight container in the freezer.

    🧾 Substitutions

Peaches. If desired you can use fresh or canned peaches instead of frozen. whatever is easier to have on hand! You'll get the best peach popsicles either way!

Water. If you use canned peaches or do not wish to have peach chunks in your popsicles, swap out some of the water for peach juice from a can of peaches.

Just fill a measuring glass with the syrup from the can and then fill in the remaining water needed. The amount of syrup in each can will vary based on the size of the can but the peach flavor should be great!

    🥣 Recipe Add-Ins

To make this tea more unique you can add some fun add-ins like:

    • Fresh or frozen berries
    • Sliced lemon or lemon zest

    🍴 Recipe Tips

    Get the most flavor

When making these frozen tea popsicles, letting the tea steep for several minutes helps to get the most tea flavor from the bags before use. If desired you can cut down on the steeping time or increase it for a stronger flavor.

    Alternative sweeteners

You can use sugar alternatives for this recipe like Splenda granulated sugar but you will need to taste the tea and adjust it to your own preferences. Keep in mind that liquid Splenda and honey should not be frozen so do not use them as sweeteners in these popsicles.

    👩🏻‍🍳 Storage

You can keep your homemade popsicles wrapped in plastic wrap and then stored in airtight containers for up to 6 weeks. They'll last almost indefinitely but the longer you keep them in the freezer the more flavor is lost thanks to freezer burn.

    💭 FAQs

How long does it take for popsicles to freeze?

Depending on your mold and the temperature of the popsicle mixture inside, it can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours for the popsicles to fully freeze and set up.

How to remove popsicles from a mold

I recommend letting the mold sit on the counter for about 5-10 minutes before trying to remove the popsicles from inside. Another option is to carefully run the bottom of the mold under warm running water just enough to loosen the popsicles. Silicone molds work best for this because you can push up from the bottom to help loosen the popsicles.

How can you make popsicles without a mold?

You can use ice trays and toothpicks, disposable dixie cups and popsicle sticks, or even a muffin pan lined with aluminum foil! Just top the containers of choice with plastic wrap or foil before inserting the popsicle sticks so that they hold in place.
