    Instant Pot Bacon

Cooking bacon in the Instant Pot is now one of my top favorite ways to do it. No mess, less hassle, and every piece turns out as crispy and chewy as desired.

Bacon is incredible in so many recipes and on its own. It's a staple breakfast meat but it can do so much more from wrapping a Thanksgiving turkey to being added to your favorite green salad and almost everything in between.

Unfortunately, we all know that bacon produces a lot of hot liquid fatty grease as it heats. These, unfortunately, splatter everywhere as the bacon fat pops and sizzles throughout the cooking process turning a clean kitchen into a greasy and messy one.

But cooking bacon in Instant Pot can help to save your clean kitchen from impending doom. With tall sides to catch all of the splatters and a convenient saute mode, you can easily cook your bacon strips without mess or fuss!

Just another reason to love your Instant Pot, am I right?

    🍴 Recipe Tips

If you're a huge fan of bacon (like my husband) then you may already have a favorite style of it. With different cuts, amount of fat marbled throughout, or different smoked flavors or spices throughout every strip.

I'm telling you now that you can use whatever you want but not every piece is created equally.

Tossing bacon in the freezer is all good and well but once bacon thaws you may notice it wants to grab hold of the slice next to it as you go to remove one from the packaging. Letting the bacon come to room temperature first is a helpful tip to avoid bacon tearing.

If your bacon tears and you end up with bits, you can still cook them up in the Instant Pot. Pressure cooker bacon works for long pieces and small bits just the same. You may want to set them aside for bacon bit needing recipes instead of eating as-is though.

There's nothing wrong with broken bacon pieces though. It's like a cupcake. Although it can look ugly- it's still gosh darn tasty! Yum!

    💭 FAQs

Can you cook instant pot bacon from frozen?

The biggest issue is that you'll want to have the bacon soft enough to slice in half to fit inside the Instant Pot. It might take a little more time to cook from frozen as well, but it can be done. It will be a messier process though.

How long is leftover bacon good for?

Is there such a thing? You can keep cooked bacon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days before it spoils. This should give you plenty of chances to snack on it or find a recipe to use it in.

How to keep cooked bacon crisp

Take a baking sheet and place a wire rack on top. Lay your cooked bacon on the rack and place it in the oven at 200 degrees F with the door propped open.

Check out how to make bacon in the Instant Pot with these simple step-by-step instructions:

    • Set your Instant Pot to Saute Mode and set the timer for 30 minutes.
    • Slice your bacon strips in half so that they will fit into the Instant Pot.
    • Lay about 3 or 4 slices (as they'll fit) into the bottom of the Instant Pot liner.
    • Cook bacon on one side for 3 minutes until cooked through and crispy.
    • Flip to the other side and then cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

To dispose of bacon grease, I like to take a ceramic bowl and line it with aluminum foil so it goes up and covers the sides. Then using oven mitts lift the liner from the Instant Pot, tip it over and pour the grease into the foiled bowl. Allow it to sit for several hours until it solidifies. Then wrap it up and toss in trash.
