french bread pizza slices on a serving plate

    🥘 Ingredients

French bread loaf- You'll want a loaf of french bread pizza, or Italian loaf. I like to find my loaves of bread on the day old markdown racks at my local grocery store.

Olive oil- This will help to make your bread more crispy!

Pizza sauce- Use your favorite pizza sauce or homemade.

Shredded Mozzarella cheese- You can shred it yourself or buy it pre-shredded to save time. I like to use the pre-shredded pizza blend of cheeses.

Pizza Toppings- You can use any pizza toppings that you enjoy. Pepperoni, black olives, etc.

For specific quantities, see the recipe card below.

    🔪 Instructions

Check out how to make air fryer french bread pizzas with these simple step-by-step instructions:

Slice your french bread into 4 pieces by slicing it in half horizontally and then in half again. Note that you may need to cut the slices even smaller to fit in your air fryer, or you may need to work in batches to get it all to fit.

Place the bread into your air fryer.

Brush the tops of the bread with olive oil before heating at 350 degrees F for 4 minutes.

Remove the bread from the air fryer and then top with your pizza sauce.

Add toppings next, before following with the cheese on top. This will hold the toppings down so that they don't fly around inside of the air fryer.

Place the pizzas back into the air fryer basket.

    Different Bread Options

While french bread is the more "preferred" bread option of choice, you can honestly use just about anything. I've even made Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza before!

Here are some great ideas to choose from if you don't ant to use french bread:

    • A loaf of cuban bread- I find this at all of the Walmarts down here in Florida and it works pretty well.
    • Italian loaf- This is a softer crust so the pizza wont be as crispy, great if you like your pizzas softer.
    • Baguette- You can make air fried baguette pizza by using a baguette. The bread will be more crisp and the slices will be smaller as a result.

    📖 Variations

    Different Sauces and Toppings

You can mix and match any of your favorite pizza sauces and toppings including:

    • Red pizza sauce
    • Pesto sauce
    • Alfredo sauce (like my Cream Cheese Alfredo Sauce) or Barbecue sauce
    • Pepperoni
    • Green onions
    • Green bell peppers
    • Red onions
    • Shredded chicken
    • Different cheeses
    • Pineapple chunks
    • and more!

    🍴 Recipe Tips

    Cut to fit

You will need to cut your bread to size to get it to fit into your air fryer. Whether this means to slice it in half lengthwise or in quarters will really depend on the loaf of choice and the size of your air fryer.

    Order matters!

Make sure to place the pizza toppings on the bread after the sauce and BEFORE the cheese. The cheese will melt and hold the toppings down so that they don't fly around inside of the air fryer. Pepperoni is known to pop up and fly around, leaving your pizza behind.

    Adjust time as needed

You can adjust the cooking time by adding a minute or two, or reducing it, depending on how crisp or soft you want the pizza to be.

    🍳Reheating

To reheat your pizza bread in an air fryer, place it back into the air fryer basket and cook at 380 degrees F for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through.

    💭 FAQs

How long is french bread pizza good for?

You can keep your leftover french bread pizza stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 or so days, but it will taste best when freshest. Reheat again before serving to help restore some of that fresh taste.

How to cook frozen french bread pizza in the air fryer

If you have a frozen french bread pizza (like Stouffer’s or Red Baron) then you can heat it from frozen in your air fryer by cooking it at 350 degrees F for roughly 6 minutes or until warmed through.

How do you keep French bread pizza from getting soggy?

By cooking the bread for a few minutes before adding the sauce we help to make the fluffy soft bread a little more firm so that it holds up to the moisture of the sauce and doesn't make our pizzas soggy.
